Their calcareous shells are used as fossil indicator, and the chemical composition of their shells can reconstruct paleo-temperature. However, its biological mechanism still remains unclear.

放散虫
Their siliceous tests have long fossil record exceeding the Cambrian. Also, their wide vertical distribution (~3,000 m) have high potential to reconstruct past deep waters. However, we have less information for their ecology and biology.
珪質の殻を形成し、その殻は化石として保存される。この化石記録はカンブリア紀まで保存されて
いる。また、幅広い鉛直分布(~3,000 m)を持っており、深層水の環境復元に活用できる可能性がある。しかし、生物学的情報が
限られている。
